Burnside Township has 1,920 residents and is 54 square miles in size, one of the few township and a half communities in Michigan.
Burnside’s new Master Plan, written with Crescent Consulting, was adopted in 2007. The township’s new zoning ordinance, also written with Crescent, is expected to be adopted in early 2009. Outstanding features of this project are the first parcel maps for the community and provisions for participation in the Preservation of Development Rights program at the County. Unique features include multiple gravel pits, a major north-south highway leading to Detroit suburbs and multiple mixed uses among an agricultural land base.
